Bourbon Street was born
in 1999 in a small alley in Roppongi. It is still in the original location
serving top class cajun and creole dishes five days a week. Having just five
tables, it is a very intimate dining experience. But because it is small,
perfect service and rich flavours are easier to provide.
A simple black n white
interior, polished wooden floor, crisp white tablecloths, gleaming wine glasses
and a friendly host add to the attractions of Bourbon Street. The music playing
in the back is handpicked by the owner everyday from his huge personal
collection of N'Orleans musicians.(Aaron Neville is a hot favourite)
The food....thats`what it is
all about ! Strong rich flavours with a lot of kick to it. Some of the classics
like crab cakes, crawfish pies, southern fried chicken, fried catfish, blackened
fish, jambalaya; etc; have never moved from the menu and are allways
popular. A large part of the menu is changed every three months in
order to include the seasonal bounty....stuff like scallops, oysters, softshell
crabs, seabass, mushrooms, etc; Fresh cornbread is baked every day, andouille
sausage is smoked in house every week and a lot of other stuff made from scratch
in order to get authentic tastes. One good example is buttermilk....to marinate
the fried chicken. They don't sell buttermilk in Tokyo....so we make buttermilk
.... to make fried chicken !
Desserts..... hot pies straight
from the oven, bread pudding with white choclate chips smothered in caramel
sauce, rich brownies, banana fosters soaked in bourbon, fresh fruits in season
and all else that u can think about that is rich and sweet.
And finally coffee to wash it
all down. Chicory coffee from Cafe Du Monde in the french quarter, is imported
and served with warm milk.
As is often said...let the good
times roll...
